Perilla Lopez, the eldest daughter of Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings, has left Netflix.
The 23-year-old Perilla posted on Instagram on Thursday that she was leaving the company after she “didn’t like some of the things they were saying and felt like it didn’t matter anymore”.
“I’m leaving Netflix for now.
I love my company and am grateful for the opportunity to work for it.
I will not be a distraction, I will be a part of the team.
The people at Netflix and in the company are great and I am honored to have been part of it,” she wrote.
Netflix said on Thursday it had “resolved” the issues with Perilla, saying it had taken the matter “very seriously”.
“Our team and all our customers feel incredibly proud of Perilla and of Netflix,” the company said.
“We are thankful for her support over the past several months and we are deeply sorry that this has caused her to feel the way she did.”
Perilla left Netflix with her mother and her boyfriend in February, when Perilla was nine.
Her Instagram post said she had been at Netflix for three years, but did not specify how long she had worked there.
“I will be forever grateful to all of my friends at Netflix, all of you who have made this experience possible,” Perilla wrote.
The Perilla post comes after Netflix CEO Reed Harris was forced to apologise after he wrote that he was “shocked and ashamed” to hear of the abuse of children on the service.
“It is incredibly offensive and deeply offensive,” he wrote in an apology on Twitter.
“If I had known how many children were being exploited on Netflix I would not have signed up for the service.”
Netflix has also been rocked by allegations of sexual harassment, and in September, the company fired the director of an internal investigation after she was accused of “harassing” men on the network.
